Grill Pans - What to Consider Before Buying a Grill Pan
Stove top grill pans allow you to cook foods without the food cooking in its own fat. The raised ridges on a grill pan keep the food above the fat and allows the fat to drain away between the raised ridges. It is a great method of cooking to achieve low fat results. Grills pans can be made of anodized or cast aluminum, stainless steel, or cast iron. Many grill pans have been coated with a nonstick material so that you can cook virtually fat free. Nonstick grill pans will produce light brown marks on the food. In order to get dark brown or black marks on the food that you are grilling a grill pan that does not have nonstick coating should be used. Look for a heavy duty grill pan, as light weight pans can warp. You may want to consider a grill pan that has a stay cool handle, as you are likely to move the pan while cooking.
