Stock Pots - What to Consider Before Buying a Stock Pot
Every cook needs a good stock pot. A stock pot is typically the largest pan in the kitchen. A stock pot can range from 6 - 20 quarts. The most common size stock pot is 8 quarts. The size you choose will most likely depend on how many people you usually cook for. If you make soups or tomato sauce you will want to be sure to choose a material that does not react with acidic foods, such as an enamel coated stock pot or a stainless steel stock pot. You want the stock pot to have a thick, heavy bottom to prevent burning and wobbling on the stove. Also look for stock pots with well constructed riveted handles as full stock pot can be very heavy.
