Gaggia Espresso Machines - A Tradition of Continual Evolution
Gaggia was founded over 50 years ago and is the best known Italian manufacturer of coffee and espresso machines for professional and household use. Its name is synonymous throughout the world with espresso and cappuccino coffee. Achille Gaggia produced the first modern steam-less coffee machine in 1938. His ingenious idea of forcing water pressure to flow over the ground coffee produced the 'crema' that has made espresso coffee world famous. Throughout Gaggia's history the company objective has been to build espresso machines with quality, reliability, and the passion to produce the best espresso. All Gaggia products are made in Italy and are produced with a care for details and state-of-the-art technology.
Gaggia Espresso Machines Gaggia produces a full line of semi-automatic to super-automatic espresso machines ranging from $200 to $2000. Each machine is made with commercial grade parts. All of the Gaggia Espresso machines feature a commercial grade porta filter (the cupped handle on an espresso machine which holds the ground coffee during the brewing process) that is 58 mm in diameter. This allows the water to be distributed evenly over a wide surface. The filter holder is made of heavy chrome plated brass that keeps the temperature stable throughout the brewing process. The brewing group (the part of the machine that the portafilter locks into) is also made of chrome plated brass to further stabilize the brewing temperature. Stabilizing the brewing temperature and exposing the grinds to the water are key components to making a superb cup of espresso.
Gaggia Super Automatic Espresso MachinesGaggia Super-Automatic Espresso Machines - What is a super-automatic espresso machine? A super-automatic espresso machine will at one touch of a button complete the entire brewing cycle, and be ready to brew again without any manual intervention. A super-automatic espresso machine will grind the coffee beans, deliver an exact amount of coffee to the brew basket, tamp the coffee, pass an exact amount of water through the brew basket, and deliver consistently exceptional espresso to a cup. It will then dispose of the grounds from the brew basket (portafilter) to the dump box. Gaggia makes several super-automatic espresso machines, all of which operate in a similar way and have similar components. The most affordable models are made with steel frames and plastic housings. The models with stainless steel housings are more expensive.
Gaggia Semi- Automatic Espresso MachinesGaggia Semi-Automatic Espresso Machines - What is a semi automatic espresso machine? A semi-automatic espresso machine will automatically control the pressure and temperature of the brewing process. The operator controls the rest of the process. Gaggia makes several different models of semi-automatic espresso machines. All of these espresso machines have similar components. The outer housing material and style varies among the different models.
